Easy Ways to Share Your Rates in Your Web Copy
It’s time to stop being weird about sharing your rates on your website - here’s how!
Let’s just dive right in and get real - you need to put *some* pricing info on your website.
Leaving your rates off of your website is losing you business, plan and simple. And I don't want that for you!
When people don't see ANY info about their potential investment online, they either 1) bounce, because they don't want to get sucked into an awkward "The Price Is Right"-style reveal with you on a call or 2) they assume you're too expensive and go find someone else.
IMO, discomfort around sharing pricing openly is corporate BS we've internalized, like all those ~negotiating trainings~ that forbid you from saying a number first. We're better than that dumb gamesmanship! Our service has a market value, our clients have a budget, and it is what it is.
→ Someone is aligned (or even aligned-ish) with the pricing they see on your website? Amazing! They'll take the next step.
→ Someone realizes you're way above their budget for the project? That's okay! They'll move on to a different provider and both of you have saved precious time and energy.
So, how do you share your pricing on your website?
If your service/package has a standard rate, just say it. Literally. Easy as that.
If your service/package pricing are always custom, say "starting at $$$" or give a range ("typically $$ - $$$", “most clients spend between $$ - $$$”, “the average investment for this service is about $$$”).
Always feel free to add a note letting people know that packages can be customized based on their needs (if that's true, obvs)! That can help someone feel safe to inquire even if they're not *exactly* sure that the rate will work for them.
You can even include a dropdown on your contact form that says something like "I can modify packages based on your needs - what's your expected budget for the project?" and then give people a range of $ options.
Honestly, it’s as easy as that! Being straightforward with your potential clients is the perfect way to begin a relationship, and they’ll love and respect you for it.
